New Blog Post

Well now that the season is over its been nice to relax a bit and start catching up with friends and family.

I’m really looking forward to a trip back home to New Zealand as well. We have a really cool event at one of the biggest car/performance shows in the county called the Big Boys Toys event, and I’m excited to get back to the local New Zealand dirt track Western Springs Speedway for their first race of the season.

One of the coolest things we were able to do so far this offseason is the Dan Wheldon Karting Challenge just outside Indianapolis. It was great because the event draws so many people from the racing world, all while raising awareness for Alzheimer’s. It’s a really fun event and most of the current and some former Indy car drivers participate. This year I teamed up with three Target store managers and we did pretty good overall on the podium with a third-place result. My teammate Tony Kanaan took the overall win so Chip Ganassi Racing was well represented!

I can’t wait to get back in the Indy car though and I’m looking forward to getting started again with some off-season testing. A lot will be changing with the new body kits next year so that will be interesting. This off season is too long! Petit Le Mans was fun helping out Scott Pruett and Memo Rojas, but we went down a lap and could never really recover before finishing third.

Another cool thing that is happening is Target House celebrates 15 years of being a home away from home for patients and their families facing long-term stays for treatment at St. Jude. I’ve made several visits there over the years, and am looking forward to another silly-string war with the kids soon!

Right now we are just busy with the kids and it seems like there are meetings every day in trying to build our new home in Indianapolis – it looks like we should be able to move in in just about a month and Emma and I are excited. Poppy has had a fresh start at ISI (International School of Indiana) as well. She’s in French emersion among many other things in school and loving every bit of it.

The Roar Before the 24 at Daytona is 80 days away and can’t get here any faster!

….until then…
