Well things have been picking up lately which is encouraging for the team. We didn’t get the results we wanted to in Houston but we started to get it figured out on the ovals the past two weekends.
In Pocono the cars were fast and competitive. And again last weekend we were able to win the pole position at Iowa for the first time this season.
The race at Iowa for the most part was good, expect for the ending! The Target cars swept the front row and Tony and I traded the lead a few times and the team led almost the entire race. We kept adding front wing to the car and it just continued to get better and better and better through the race. But a late caution came out with just about 10 laps to go which allowed the cars in the back a chance to gamble and get tires. Unfortunately that gamble paid off for them and they passed Tony and I on the last two laps to ruin a one-two finish.
In the end it was disappointing not to finish off the weekend after dominating, but we’ll continue to work hard for that first win with two chances in Toronto this weekend.
I’m excited to spend a few days this week visiting family before heading up north. Hopefully we can have the same success we did last year there.
